Signs of Dyslexia Start Before Reading, Study Finds

As I learn more about Dyslexia, I’ve often wondered if this disorder is connected to Sensory Processing Disorder. My son just entered kindergarten, so will this be a problem for him. A recent study did find that Dyslexia has less to do with language/speech and more about how the brain processes the symbols and input it receives. (Sounding a bit familiar?)

Study: Dyslexia Linked to Visual Attention Problems in Preschool

It’s not uncommon for children with Sensory Processing Disorder to be diagnosed with some other learning disability, including Dyslexia. After all, the two issues are caused by how the brain processes the information it receives. How can I, as a mother, not worry that perhaps my 5yo SPD kiddo will have some type of learning disability as he enters Kindergarden next year.

A new study is finding there is a link between Dyslexia and visual attention problem as early as preschool, well before children begin to learn how to read. Think about what it would mean to be able to help those children early if these findings are reinforced through other studies.
